This hike is not an easy one but gives you a wonderful experience you can have in your life time. Though it is not an easy hike, finding directions is not as hard as in other hikes. It is better to start early as it takes nearly 4-5 hours to get to all the peaks. We will have to walk through pine woods and cross water streams.
You can experience a nice and cold weather here as Ella is in the hill country. This is an amazing gate away for everyone who want to have a break from their busy lives. You can visit Rawana Ella which is a beautiful waterfall in this area. You can also discover Mini Adam’s peak and some hidden caves.
Ambuluwawa can be introduced as the first multi- religious centre and bio diversity complex of Sri Lanka. A small temple, kovil, mosque and a church is situated at the peak of this mountain. People from all the religions come there. This place is a symbol of harmony and the humanity of the country.
At the end of the hike you will see a rock at the top of the mountain. You will have to go through a 90 degree climb up to reach the top. There is two ways to climb this part. One is to trust yourself and climb up without having any help. Second way is to use a rope. We prefer the second. But no offense in following your heart.
Nature has gifted an image with the panorama of cascading water-falls, luxuriant meadows and intriguing scenery. You usually see this Bible Rock from Kandy road in a journey passing Kadugannawa. Rock stands in mountainous horizon with a flat surface and it doesn’t take a second to identify the Bible rock.
Forming a beautiful stretch of mountains sitting beyond the city of Matale, anyone would be obliged to drive ahead till you reach the top. One can experience clouds covering up the area and then passing off at Riverston area making the air so cool. This place is a huge traveler’s attraction though yet unknown and hidden to the world.
Kanneliya gets the highest rain fall from December to February and this time is considered as the best time to visit. You will see the water streams that are running through the forest making whitish cascades of water and forming milky foam. During rainy days, trails through the forest are a bit challenging with leeches.
In early in the morning you can experience a beautiful sunrise from the top of the mountain. You will get to see a spectacular view of the golden sun rays that touches the peak and the surrounding clouds. This place can be considered as a symbol of harmony as pilgrims with different beliefs join together for one journey.
Sinharaja Forest is home to many of species of birds, reptiles, amphibians, fish, deer, mammals and insects. Most of the species are endemic to Sri Lanka. Every year this list is updated by adding new species as more species are discovered within the rain forest. The most significant thing about Sinharaja is this high attentiveness of endemic species of plants and animals.
The camp site is established close by a river branch and the life in night camp with bon fire & BBQ enriches the jungle life even brighter. Further the life jackets and other required would also be provided for water based adventures. Rock/water sliding and confident jump are two activities that you should never miss out in Meemure.
